Field Service Engineer Mechanical

FIELD SERVICE ENGINEER- Mechanical Bridgeport, CT area

Prefer a more hands-on position? Enjoy travel? If this sounds like you, this company will train you in their highly engineered, specialized, high end, recession-proof equipment line. After a 3 month product training stint in Chicago, you will travel internationally 75% supporting installations and resolving large rotating equipment problems with Fortune 50 customers. You will deal with customers' engineers and engineering managers on operating issues such as corrosion, power losses and efficiencies, turbo dynamics, vibration, and more. When not traveling, you will work out of the office maintaining after order contracts and performing project management duties. In time, this position could very well lead to a Service Manager or Project Manager/Project Engineer slot. The base salary depends on level of experience, and ranges from $45,000 to $55,000. But with the paid overtime and bonuses, you should make $70,000 the first year. This company pays 100% of medical benefits. For the last 10 years, they have also paid out after sale bonuses ranging from 4-6% after a year. As mentioned, with paid overtime, you will add another $20,000 to $30,000 income annually to the base. The company even pays 100% of 401 (k) contribution of another 5- 10% after a year. Requires a passion to see the world, fine interpersonal and communication skills, and an interest in hands-on mechanical engineering projects. Some exposure to rotating equipment, such as motors, pumps, compressors, turbines, is strongly preferred. A BS in Mechanical or Marine Engineering and U.S. citizenship is absolutely required, and they will only interview local (SW CT) candidates. Since there is extensive travel to South America, ability to speak Portuguese or Spanish is of distinct advantage. Please, no electrical engineers on this one.
