Positions In Mechanical Engineering

SR. MECHANICAL ENG.- Machine Design- COASTAL NEW HAVEN COUNTY, CT. This business unit of a privately held manufacturer ranks #2 worldwide in their product line. Due to their success in creating highly customized systems with superior software, sales have doubled in the past two years. They currently have a year backlog in orders. These systems incorporate material handling, conveyors, robotics, PLC controls, and fabricated metal, and the scale is large—the size of a room or even a building. The atmosphere here is typical for a small company with more orders in their history—exciting, very fast paced, chaotic, and freewheeling. Reporting to the Director of Engineering, you’ll be doing both system and component design, creating the BOM, detail and fabrication drawings on SolidWorks (30-50% on the CAD), interacting with vendors, and much more. This position could lead to a management slot, in time. The salary ranges from $70,000 to $90,000, with the target being in the middle. Benefits are competitive and include Cigna POS Basic with employee co-payment of $24.00 per biweekly pay period, dental, vision, life, flexible spending accounts, short and long term disability, EAP, company matched (25% for first three years, 33% afterwards) 401 (k) plan, accrued paid time off, preferred pricing (1% below invoice) on new Chrysler vehicles, free pizza on Fridays, company picnics and dinners, annual bonuses, and more. Their facility will be completely renovated this Spring, so you should have a pristine work environment. Sorry, no relocation expenses on this one. Requires a BSME degree and at least five years of machine design experience using 3-D modeling. Any background with robotic or material handling systems is strongly preferred.

DESIGN APPLICATION ENGINEER- Northern Hartford County, CT. A flourishing, employee-oriented division of a Fortune 1000 corporation in northern Hartford County, Connecticut seeks a Mechanical Engineer who enjoys customer contact to design special applications of their products. They manufacture two highly engineered, unique product lines, which are expected to double the company's business in the next five years. Due to their market-leading unique products, this booming, employee-oriented manufacturer is having their best year ever—with a projected sales increase of $10,000,000 over 2006. They have expanded their manufacturing space this year to handle the demand. The environment here is dynamic, exciting, and the shop is clean. They use all the latest manufacturing techniques, including cellularization, pull production, 5S, set up reduction, statistical process controls, and continuous improvement. They also have many long term employees. The Mechanical Engineer will develop their own project plans, as well as technical presentations used in sales presentations. In addition to working directly with customers, the engineers will design using CAD, 3D solid modeling, FEA, structural analysis, assembly programs, and they will even devise and run their own tests. There is close work with sales on product designs, cost estimation, and in test reporting. Occasionally, the Engineer could conduct new product development activities. The management style is positive and supportive. There is very little travel. Several engineers I have placed here have come to me years later and have thanked me for the connection. The salary ranges from $58,000 to $65,000 or so. They offer a full, highly competitive benefits package which include dental insurance, 100% employer-paid pension, funeral and military leave, tuition aid, thirteen holidays, some relocation assistance, and much more. They require a BSME/Materials/Aeronautical/Civil Engineering degree, one or more years of mechanical product design experience on either components or systems using CAD, fine interpersonal skills, and a persuasive personality on these positions. They will train on their product lines. Any background in rotating equipment is preferred.
Sorry, all positions require permanent U.S. residency.
